Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (LMU)

In cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, we have been working on the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) for the digital transformation of life insurers in recent years. The aim was to replace outdated IT systems and transfer the knowledge they contain automatically and transparently into modern IT solutions.

TRAIL.X project

As part of the TRAIL.X (Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence in Life Insurance)  project, we have been working with the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) since 2021 to develop a process that automatically transfers actuarial functionalities from a source system to a modern policy administration system with the help of AI. This enables life insurers to replace old generations of systems more cost-effectively and with fewer resources, map their core functionalities using AI and integrate them into a modern system. The topics of explainable AI and automated machine learning play an important role in this context.

TRAIL.X breaks new technological ground and creates a fundamentally new hybrid technology at the interface between machine learning, software development and actuarial mathematics. This process is already being used successfully in ongoing migration projects.
